BMitzvah

Anafim at Makom Community

Our program is egalitarian and gender-inclusive. To support students of all genders, we use the title BMitzvah to refer to our students and this important milestone! Families who are not affiliated with a synagogue or other community where their child might have a BMitzvah ceremony are welcome to celebrate right here at Makom Community.

Attending Anafim Schedule

The Anafim class is in session Monday through Thursday. Families can choose to attend three days (from 4-6pm) or two days plus a 1:1, on zoom or in person. 1:1s are an equivalent cost to the third day of class, so the tuition remains the same. If you are having a BMitzvah ceremony with Makom Community 1:1s are required 6 months prior to the BMitzvah, with a 2 or 3 day Anafim schedule and cost an additional $1200.

Anafim at Makom Community is a special experience. Kids get to go deeper in their learning and be more self-directed. Anafim students have three days per week of learning at Makom Community. We can offer three paths to spending three days a week engaging with Makom learning, all for the regular Anafim tuition.

  • Choose 3 days when Anafim class is meeting (M-Th)
  • Choose 2 days when Anafim class is meeting (M-Th) AND Friday
    • (NOTE: 1:1 will be in person on Friday with the Anafim educator)
  • Choose 2 days when Anafim class is meeting (M-Th) AND Zoom 1:1
    • (NOTE: Zoom 1:1 will be scheduled for Sundays or weekdays after 6pm)
  • If you’d prefer a 4 day per week schedule for your 5th-7th grader, they can also attend Anafim class 3 days AND Friday. There is an additional $1000 per year tuition cost.
